Jeffrey Levin is a composer, sound designer, music director, and instructor living in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated with a BM in music composition from Columbia College Chicago where he studied composition and piano performance. He has a Masters of Music degree in composition at DePaul University. For theater his original music, sound design, and music direction has been featured at several Chicago theaters in over 70 productions with A Red Orchid Theatre, Windy City Playhouse, About Face Theatre, Cor Theatre (Company Member), TUTA, Emerald City, Stage Left, Strawdog Theatre, Oracle Theatre, Profiles Theatre, Step Up Productions, Dead Writers Theatre Collective, Cold Basement Dramatics, Piven Theatre, Urban Theater Company, Collaboraction, Northwestern, Columbia College, McGill University, Hope College, and others. He has also contributed technical and sound enginnering work with Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Columbia College Dance, The Hypocrites, and for live music tours. His classical music compositions have been performed by musicians from ensemble dal niente, Gaudete Brass Quintet, International Contemporary Ensemble, Third Coast Percussion, Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, and more. He has recieved four Joseph Jefferson Award nominations and one win for his Sound Design in THE HAIRY APE with Oracle Theatre. He is a recent recipeint of the Edes Prize for Emerging Artists and his composition and the composition 'Refractions' for clarinet and electronics won the Klienman competition prize for outstanding work in composition. As a performer, he plays piano for various events and productions in Chicago. He also has taught music theory and composition at the Merit School of Music, DePaul University, and privately.
