Jeffrey Levin is a composer, sound designer, and musician living in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated with a Masters of Music in composition from DePaul University and a Bachelors of Music in composition from Columbia College Chicago where he studied composition and piano performance. For theatere his original music, sound design, and music direction has been featured at dozens Chicago theaters in over 100 productions with companies including Steppenwolf, TimeLine, The Court Theatre, Victory Gardens, A Red Orchid Theatre, Windy City Playhouse, Steep, American Theatre Company, About Face Theatre, Silk Road Rising, TUTA, Emerald City, Adventure Stage, Theater Wit, Lifeline, Jackalope, Stage Left, Strawdog, Oracle, Greenhouse Productions, Urban Theater Company, Collaboraction, Northwestern, Columbia College, North Park University, Transylvania University, McGill University, Hope College, and others. Regionally he has worked with Asolo Repertory (Sarasota, FL), Hope Summer Repertory Theate (Holland, MI), Denver Center for Performing Arts (Denver, CO), Gulfshore Playhouse (Naples, FL), and Children's Theatre Madison (Madison, WI). His classical music compositions have been performed by musicians from ensemble dal niente, Gaudete Brass Quintet, International Contemporary Ensemble, Third Coast Percussion, Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, and more. He has recieved ten Joseph Jefferson Award nominations and one win (Sound Design in THE HAIRY APE with Oracle Theatre). He is a recipeint of the Edes Prize for Emerging Artists and his composition and the composition 'Refractions' for clarinet and electronics won the Klienman competition prize for outstanding work in composition. As a performer, he plays piano for various events and productions in Chicago. He also has taught music theory and composition at the Merit School of Music, DePaul University, and privately.
